Description
The Seasonal Weaver
Handcrafted baskets for seasonal living.
There is something deeply satisfying about making an object with your own hands, one that is not only beautiful, but becomes part of your everyday life.
The Seasonal Weaver is a year-long basket weaving journey that follows the rhythm of the seasons through four immersive workshops. Together we will slow down, gather and create a collection of handcrafted cane baskets inspired by the changing year.
Working with natural materials, you’ll learn a variety of basket weaving techniques while creating four beautiful and practical pieces, each designed with a different season in mind. From foraging in autumn and holding winter treasures, to collecting the first harvests of spring and carrying a basket with you through summer to gather precious items, each piece has a purpose and a story.
More than just learning to weave, this is an invitation to slow down, reconnect with the rhythm of the seasons and experience the quiet joy of making something beautiful by hand.
Each workshop has been thoughtfully designed for complete beginners while remaining rewarding for those with previous weaving experience. Over the course of the year, you’ll build your confidence and skills as you explore different ways of working with cane, while enjoying good food, conversation and the company of fellow makers.
By the end of the year, you’ll have created a collection of four handcrafted baskets—each one connected to a different season and carrying the memories of making it.
The Four Seasons
Summer — Gathering Basket
Our first workshop celebrates the warmth, freedom and abundance of summer with an open-weave Gathering Basket.
Designed with a long strap so it can be worn while you move, this light and airy basket is made for summer adventures. Take it strawberry picking, gather flowers and herbs from the garden, collecting special items on a walk.
Autumn — Forage Basket
Our journey then flows into autumn with a beautiful cane Forage Basket.
Strong and practical, this basket is made to take into the garden to collect eggs, produce and bring it along on a mushroom foraging walk.
You’ll learn the foundations of basket weaving while creating a versatile basket that can become part of your everyday life.
Winter — Treasure Basket
As the days grow shorter, we turn towards home and the simple treasures of winter.
In this workshop you’ll create a beautiful cane Treasure Basket, with a solid woven base and an open flowing form around the top. Designed to be as useful as it is beautiful, it can hold wool and knitting beside your favourite chair, seasonal fruit on the kitchen table, nature finds or any treasures you gather through the colder months.
A basket for keeping close the things that bring warmth and comfort through winter.
Spring — Harvest Tray
As the earth awakens and the days grow longer, we welcome the abundance of spring with a Harvest Tray.
This versatile cane tray is perfect for carrying freshly picked herbs and flowers, gathering produce from the garden or displaying the season’s harvest on your kitchen table.
Simple and elegant, the Harvest Tray celebrates the return of growth, colour and abundance and invites you to bring a little of the garden into your home.
